What a crummy week...Tuesday, Ed McMahon...then this morning Farrah Fawcett...but this afternoon hearing that Legendary King of Pop, sensational entertainer and musical genius, Michael Jackson died was just shocking!! I didn't believe it at first...how could this star who I grew up with be gone?

Yes, we'll all have to take a bit of time to mourn the loss of these people who have contributed so much to our entertainment. In the meantime, everyday life goes on. Yesterday, a 9 year old little girl was outside giving her dog a bath and was gunned down and killed. I was saddened to learn that a little 2 year old child from Gary, IN who was possibly abducted over a week ago, was found dead. Killing a little 2 year old? Killing a 9 year old? They never had a chance to make their impact on the world!!!

So in honor of those we have lost this week, I want to remind everyone to celebrate life. Yes, sometimes it gets hard...bills are due, paychecks are short, people upset you. There is so much negative to focus on. But instead, try to focus on the positive. I had a fortune cookie last night and my message was "failure is opportunity in disguise". If that doesn't say turn a negative into a positive, I don't know what does.

So take a little time to mourn the losses, but make sure that you celebrate life...your life...the lives of your family and your friends...the lives of those you admire and who motivate you---because life is precious, and can be gone in an instant.

And in tribute to Michael Jackson:

Celebrate Life!

Luv Ya!!

Celebrating...A Whole Lot of Stuff!!

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been almost a month and a half since I last posted. Where does the time go?!!

Well most recently, I accompanied my cupcake loving friends J9 and Kara to Angel Food Bakery on the north side of Chicago. I had tastes of everyone’s goodies…and yum!!

J9 had a cupcake called Mud Pie. It was a flourless cupcake that was served warmed and with fresh whipped cream. To die for!!

Kara had a lemon square that was absolutely divine! It was lemony and tart and oh so good!!!

Stephanie had a coconut cupcake. It was pretty good too though the cake part wasn’t soft and crumbly like fresh baked cupcakes usually are.

The day after cupcakes, we (Kara, Stephanie and I) went to the world renown, 57th Street Art Fair. There were some really nice things there. Kara found some sculptures and paintings that she loved and came close to buying a beautiful Raku vessel, but she let it get away. Stephanie found a woman who made some phenomenal clothes and also a guy who made 3-d wall art. There was jewelry, paintings, photography, purses…even some painted pumps! But alas, none of us bought anything…except some curly fries midway through the fair…and they were good!!

Speaking of shoes, I was surfing and found THE most gorgeous pair of shoes. Of course they are Christian Louboutin’s. Aren’t they spectacular? I think they are from 2007, but boy would I rock these!! Actually, in celebration of Barbie’s 50th, it’s been rumored that Christian Louboutin will be doing a Barbie sized version of a shoe, and I can’t wait to see what they look like!! Maybe they'll look like these...they would be FAB to have!! And while we’re on the topic of fashion, I took this pix recently and just love it!! What do you think?
Well, this blog is supposed to be about celebrating…so what can we celebrate?
This week (June 11-14th) is Superman Week. If you happen to be driving near Metropolis, IL, you might want to stop by and join the celebration. Otherwise, you can rent or buy a Superman DVD to help celebrate Superman.

Also this week, you can celebrate:

  • Nature Photography Day on the 15th by going outside and taking some pictures of the wonders of nature by you
  • Fudge Day on the 16th (what day would not be more special with a bit of fudge?)
  • Stewart’s Root Beer Day on the 17th (I absolutely LOVE root beer so I will be celebrating with a six pack of Stewart’s!)
  • Recess at Work Day on the 18th (need I say more?)
  • Juneteenth on the 19th. If you don’t know, Juneteenth is the oldest, nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Go to their website to look for a celebration near you!
  • World Juggling Day on the 20th (as if we all don’t already have enough balls in the air!)

And don’t forget next Sunday, June 21st is Father’s Day. Now’s the time to make plans to celebrate your Dad (or to pay tribute to him if he’s no longer around).

Other things to celebrate---June is National Bathroom Reading Month, National Iced Tea Month, National Smile Month and Perennial Gardening Month, so GO WILD!!!

And here’s an extra special way to celebrate!! I was reading one of my fav blogs today, Cupcakes Take The Cake, and they had the most scrumptious looking treat!!

Cupcake Kebabs…who knew?!!! Here’s a link to the original post on Cupcakes Take The Cake. How cool are these? These are VERY cool!!!!

Well…why are you just sitting there? You now have a TON of reasons to celebrate---so get busy---CELEBRATE!!!

Luv Ya!!
